The ‘Chats’ are a versatile group of singers performing everything from Madrigals to Musicals, in two, three and four parts, both accompanied and acapella..

They won their very first competition, the Wessex Cup at the Royal Wootton Bassett Arts Festival in 2015. They were also delighted to be awarded the ‘Choir of the Year’ Trophy for the choir gaining the highest marks. Under Karl’s direction they competed at the Abergavenny local Eisteddfod and at The National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2016.

Jayne Thomas took over as MD of the ‘Chats’  after Karl died in 2017.

Performances are very varied, for example, they have sung Pergolesi ‘Stabat Mater’ accompanied by string quartet, using soloists from within the choir.

They have been guest choir of The Chepstow Male Voice at their Summer Concert 2019.

They have given recitals at St Edward’s Church Cardiff, St Mary’s Priory, Chepstow, St Woolos Cathedral Newport and Usk Choral Festival.

The Chatelaines were proud to take part in The Karl Daymond Bursary Concert in St Mary’s Priory, Chepstow in September 2023 (See link to video below).

The ‘Chats’ also have fun dressing up for performances, Victorian costume at Christmas time and as Welsh Ladies for St David’s Day, performing as guest choir to The Singing Club.

In summer 2023 the ‘Chats’  had a fabulous day singing at Raglan Castle’s Tudor and Elizabethan Weekend – dressed up for the occasion of course!

New members are welcome anytime, no audition, you don’t have to be able to sight-sing but a little musical knowledge could be helpful.

Interested? Come along, give it a go and find out for yourself. What’s the worst that could happen?!
